And they say we're dumb

Signs in Mass. Town Bear Alabama Outline

The highway signs in Easthampton, Massachusetts have an Alabama outline. Apparently, someone looked at the federal manual governing highway signs, which uses the Alabama signs as a sample. (First in the alphabet, I guess.) So they showed the guide to the contractor, who apparently isn't too good at geography and gave them exactly what they asked for. The signs stayed up for a week before anyone noticed. As the contractor said, "the numbers were correct".

CNN.com - New Jersey governor quits, comes out as gay - Aug 13, 2004

Now, if one in ten people (or is it just one in ten men?) is gay, that means, statistically speaking, that 3-5 other governors are gay. So which ones? Other than Schwarzenegger, of course. I mean, that one's pretty obvious.

Isn't that just typical

Blackout Pinned on 3 Failed Lines in Ohio

See, it was power lines in a Bush state that knocked out power to millions of people in Gore states. (Plus Canadians, who are basically Democrats anyway.) It's symbolic, that's what it is, symbolic of Bush dragging down the rest of us with his policies that sap our nation's energy.

Parts of Country May Remain Without Power Though Weekend

Most of Manhattan's still down. The parts of Michigan still out may be out through the weekend. They're muddling through. New Yorkers seem to have grown up a lot since 1977 and are mostly pulling together rather than preying on each other. Of course, they've been through a lot.

As the President indicated, we need to look at modernizing the power grid. This sort of thing simply shouldn't happen. And you can bet that al-Qaeda is taking notes.

Power Outages Reported Along East Coast

As far north as Toronto, as far south as Maryland, west to Cleveland and Detroit. What is this, Great Blackout Number Three? Or is it Four? I've lost track It seems to be universal in New York and spotty elsewhere.. The Professor has a lot of stuff, as you might expect..

Presumably, it's the same thing as the previous ones, a small event cascading. And hopefully, just an error and not human malice.

Alligator Is Found in New York City Park

It was probably someone's pet. That, or it's out for revenge on fashion designers for using its ancestors to make purses and shoes. The latter is unlikely because it was found in Queens.
