I am sentimental

Okay, I've been reading a number of biographies lately. But I tend to stop before the last chapter, because they all have (when you get down to it) tragic endings. Is it me? Am I weird?

I always read the endings first.

Why? They're always the same. Dead, buried, legacy.

Just read autobiographies from now on...

Whose have you been reading?

Mostly baseball players.

Why? I'm always interested in how they died. It manufactures a sense of dramatic irony when reading the rest of the book.

It's like knowing what happens in Deliverance, then watching it again a few years later. When you see Ned Beatty, all you can think is, "You gonna get raped."

"Due to complications from steriod abuse" will probably be how a lot of them end 30 or so years from now...
