Apparently he got the Jehovah endorsement
Vestavia carpenter hopes to make name as lieutenant governor
Hilbun Adams is a nut, but I kind of like him:
As a little-known cabinetmaker and political rookie from Vestavia, Hilbun Adams says God told him to run for lieutenant governor of Alabama...He took a shot at Wallace, saying the name of Wallace's deceased father, Gov. George C. Wallace, could only take him so far.
"But I've got the Lord," he said. "Who am I? I don't have the famous daddy. I'm just a good, normal person."
If not being famous or having any money or any qualifications weren't enough, Adams is, well...
He converted to Judaism so he could witness for Christ in Israel, became an Israeli citizen and even served in the Israeli army. He married an Israeli woman, and they had two daughters and later divorced.
Apparently, he's a Christian again now, at a "non-denominational church". He has no chance whatsoever.

I think he converted to Judaism so that he could convert back and become a Messianic Jew. Southern Christians really seem to like that idea (of a Messianic Jew).

I love the "god told me to run" thing. It reminds me of a guy who used to be sheriff of Gila County, the central Arizona county where I grew up. If I'm remembering correctly, his name was Lymon Peace. He once related a tale of how he was out in the desert and god came up to him. The Almighty made it physically impossible for the man to look up, so the entire conversation took place with the man staring at god's shoes. Did you ever wonder what kind of shoes god wears? Well, according to this guy, god wears cowboy boots.
