Moore touts term limits, which Riley also backs
Of course, the state legislature isn't too keen on the idea, nor the Democratic Party (which relies upon inertia to maintain its majority there).
The governor's office is already term-limited (to two consecutive terms, though they can run again after sitting one out) not that it's come up recently -- not since Wallace in '78, I think. If Riley wins reelection and serves out his term, he'd be the first Alabama governor to ever serve a full eight years consecutively. They used to be limited to one term. Only two governors have ever been re-elected. Wallace missed a month in '72 after being shot, and Guy Hunt was removed from office in the middle of his second term for various acts of corruption he was likely too stupid to realize were illegal.
