Thrill may be motive in blazes
"Hey, I think it would be fun to burn down a church!" What kind of sick asshole gets his kicks that way?

Sometime during my Tuscaloosa days, a newspaper feature ran on a huge old oak in the nearby wilderness -- "largest living tree east of the Mississippi", or somesuch.
Within a couple weeks, dimwits went out there, chainsawed it as much as they could, and though they couldn't cut it down, authorities predicted the tree wouldn't make it.
Can't recall hearing anymore about it.
Anyway, seems to me it's the same mentality -- "for the sheer hell of it, 'cause it'll piss somebody off, that's reason enough...!"

Anything that diverts religious monies away from political causes is a good thing. Besides, are churches really that important? It's not like they burned down homeless shelters or soup kitchens. The only sad one of the lot is the one that was actually a thrift store. People can pray in their backyards.

I don't think it's a special kind of sick asshole. Just the normal kind.

I would not be surprised if the arsonists were members of the occult or, even worse, video game addicts.

...Probably the same kind of sick asshole who thinks it's funny to beat up sleeping homeless people with bats.
