Unfortunately, not literally

montgomeryadvertiser.com :: Siegelman-Baxley debate in limbo

Wouldn't that be neat? A gubernatorial debate with no fixed perspective. Almost symbolic, really.

Siegelman wants lots of debates. Actually, he wants a debate with the Republicans as well.

Lucy, meanwhile, says that any debate should wait until after Don's trial. Ooh, burn!

I don't get this. Isn't Siegelman ahead in the polls? Why would he want to debate? Isn't afraid Baxley might define an issue for herself that could rally support? Wouldn't he want to avoid the constant Healthsouth sniping?

And Baxley's just lame at this point. She doesn't want to debate, so she transparently changes the topic to Siegleman's indictment. Everyone knows she's ducking, and she doesn't even have to duck yet. She could put out a Riley line about it being a little premature to organize debates. A line like that might have more legitimacy coming from someone who isn't vacationing in NotAruba.

"vacationing in NotAruba." baha

Yeah, her hesitation--whatever its cause--doesn't look good.

If his trial isn't keeping him from debating, why would it affect her at all? She needs better advisors.
