Team Twinkle

montgomeryadvertiser.com:: GOP may ban crossover voting

They've always allowed people to vote in the Democratic primary and Republican runoffs, but they're thinking of banning it. (The Democrats have banned it for twenty years; we don't have party registration in Alabama.) Says the Alabama Republican chair:

"We want to make it all about being on the Republican team," said Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh, chairman of the Alabama Republican Party.

It's aimed at St. Roy. They're afraid that if there's a runoff in the Republican primary Democrats will cross over and throw it to him.

I've asked this question elsewhere, but I do think I must be missing something. If Riley and Moore are the only two candidates for the Republican nomination, how could there be a runoff? Is there someone else who is planning to run?

Harri Anne Smith is supposedly running, though nobody knows why. Tim James might, but probably not.

I know some Democrats who might vote in the GOP primary, but for the purpose of voting AGAINST Moore.
