It was this small

The Seattle Times: Local News: Catch of the day: Researcher stakes claim to tiny-fish title

A University of Washington scientist says that he has a fish that is "hugely smaller" than last week's "world's smallest vertebrate". It's a matter of definition. His fish is one of those tiny males that attaches itself to the female like a parasite, or Kevin Federline. They're free-swimming only briefly. The other fish is the world's smallest vertebrate that's always an independent organism.
