He had a stroke, which can't be a surprise since he's 77 years old and overweight. He's described as "conscious but confused".

I keep cracking up over the way the news media refuses to use the word "fat." AP describes him as "extremely overweight" and mentions his "obesity problem" later in the article.

He's practically spherical at this point. Maybe that's the way to go -- geometrical terminology. "Prime Minister Sharon, who is an oblate spheroid, was released from the hospital today."
