Can we go back to Iraq?

Guard unit says 'nothing left'

All the attention on New Orleans is finally slacking off enough so that people are learning how bad it is in the rest of the Delta. The only livable building in Pearlington, MS (previous population 2500) is the shelter they're making of the elementary school library. The Catholic church had to be bulldozed after Katrina pushed it into the middle of the main street.

Yeah, I was wondering when people were going to notice MS. I hear there are whole towns (like the one you mentioned) that are completely destroyed. I'm an hour and a half north from the water and it looked like the coast after Ivan or something. We don't have cable yet so I can't imagine what it looks like down south.

New Orleans is a lot more flashy, plus there were the reports of mass death. They finally noticed Mississippi on Thursday, I think.

ABC News did have Terry Moran driving the back roads of southern Mississippi on Tuesday's (Wednesday's?) evening news, but you're right, the coverage has been skimpy.

Moran made a point in that clip though: if there's only one road into these towns and it's blocked by downed power lines and trees, there ain't much access for news crews.
