Finally a Bush Administration policy I can get behind
CNN.com - 'No-fly list' keeps infants off planes - Aug 15, 2005
Damn, it's not all infants. It's just those with similar names to terrorists. Still, it's a start. Maybe we can make "Osama" a popular baby name.

So. wait. Even after they saw that passenger Osama bin Killtheinfidelnow was a baby, they STILL insisted on having the passport etc. faxed? There was nobody around who had the authority to say, "Oh, we see, this is a gurgling lil baby, can't be the same dude. Enjoy your flight ma'am"?
This whole name-check thing is so misguided and useless. Remember pre-9/11, when showing your photo ID was supposed to be a security precaution? Fat lot of good that did.

We've gone on three plane trips (six flights) with our daughter, who is now 14 months old. She only cried once, for about ten minutes during takeoff on one flight, and that was because she didn't want to be held in the seat. Believe me when I say that was harder on us than it was on anyone sitting near us. It's actually easier to fly with 'em before they're old enough to move around on their own. Once they achieve mobility, man, it's all over.

There are lots of worse things to be near on a plane than a baby. I'll take one over a crowd of loud, obnoxious drunks any day.
