Bear-whacking time
APP.COM - Unbare policy on black bear
The black bear population in New Jersey is up again, which will probably lead to a hunt again, which will inevitably lead to protests by PETAites and other people who think that animals are magic and their populations never get out of control.

I love how the PETA types, most of which probably live in the city or the near suburbs, feel compelled to tell the folks in rural Jersey how to handle their bears.
Maybe they'll wake up when they see a bear in Nordstrom's at Garden State Plaza.

Thing is, though, the bears have been wandering into the suburbs, and they still don't get it. Though they'd probably be a pretty small group without support from the city.

Heh, just watched the DVD of the Sporanos where a black bear wandered up by Tony and Carm's pool. Unfortunately it didn't eat that obnoxious A.J.

I was in NJ about a month ago; they had dead deer on so many streets that I couldn't count. I expect it in unpopulated areas, but this was on roads busier than McFarlane Blvd.

Meh, bear hunting is too cliche.
How about they try a new way to control the bear population, like capturing a certain number of the bears and have them fight each other to death for entertainment?
The bear that survives wins the right to be released back into the wild -- or to receive a lethal injection of morphine to kill the pain from its injuries and send it to its final reward in a sweet, drug-induced slumber.
Hey, it'll be more entertaining than watching the Nets.
