Oh, no, not again
Frankly, these students are getting on my nerves. Every couple of months they're promoting another official state something or other. Now it's the Official State Mammal, and they want the black bear. Personally, I vote for the coon hound, which never breaks into your home while you're away and steals your food.

I think maybe "petition local lawmakers on animal-related issue" is a standard curriculum item these days, right up with the 4th grade trip to Montgomery. It was cute the first few times, I guess, but you're right, it must be wasting an awful lot of time. Time that could be better spent debating the official mineral from which Ten Commandments monuments should be carved.
