Beano. What is his real name that he has to go by that?

Posted by: jenny [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 21, 2005 10:13 AM

Musburger. Guilty by association with Packer.

Posted by: Eric at July 21, 2005 10:21 AM

Musburger. Still icky after all these years.

Posted by: JoeyT at July 21, 2005 10:23 AM

Brent Musburger. Another Big Ten hommer

Beano. He looks older.

Posted by: cy_young at July 21, 2005 10:34 AM

They're both horrible bandwagon type announcers, but Musberger gets the vote because his constant interjection of how X team must do this so they can win (read: cover the spread) gets very old. Also, I suspect he wears a toupee.

Posted by: SP at July 21, 2005 10:40 AM

Musberger. "Quarterback has plenty of time and HE IS SACKED!"

Beano's just a big cuddly mascot. Who could vote against that?

Musberger. Though I can't actually remember him for anything.

Posted by: Drewdat at July 21, 2005 11:02 AM

Beano. Those jowls just creep me out whenever I look at him.

Posted by: Devin McCullen at July 21, 2005 11:17 AM

Beano Cook. (Musberger's pure hatred of my local, hated Miami Hurricanes is enough to keep him from getting this vote.) The sight of Beano Cook's neck has turned me off from ever eating a Thanksgiving turkey ever again. His radio appearances with Crank Oldberg, er, Hank Goldberg, should be used by the powers-that-be at Gitmo to torture Al-Qaeda prisoners.

Posted by: Greg at July 21, 2005 11:22 AM

Brent.

Posted by: Matt at July 21, 2005 11:23 AM

Musberger - older than dirt or at least it seems that way

Posted by: joshq at July 21, 2005 11:24 AM

Beano - what kind of name is that anyway?

Posted by: Luke at July 21, 2005 11:27 AM

Musberger

Posted by: Paul at July 21, 2005 11:36 AM

I'm going with Beano.

Posted by: latnam at July 21, 2005 11:37 AM

Have to go with Beano - they wheel him out for the occasional commentary like they just shocked him back to the living.

And, for some curious reason, I enjoy Brent doing college football.

Posted by: John in Austin at July 21, 2005 11:56 AM

To all readers:

If you are a BASEBALL fan whatsoever, you'd vote AGAINST BEANO COOK.

He openly and savagely hates Baseball.

He once said that the best days of the year are "the day Baseball season ends and the day football season begins."

As a die hard Atlanta Braves fan, this crime is intolerable. I love both sports but don't talk that way about BASEBALL you old, fat, creepy loser.

Posted by: Alex R. at July 21, 2005 11:57 AM

I've actually waited for Cook to vote for him. Granted this is a tough first round match considering Musberger has single handedly ended my watching of ABC College Basketball and his college football calls are unlistenable but Beano has gotten on my nerves for years I see him about 4-6 times a year and everytime I do I wonder why am I seeing this guy again. Always felt condescending to me and the baseball thing is just one more strike against him.

Posted by: e at July 21, 2005 12:11 PM

Beano for being a baseball hater.

When Bowie Kuhn gave lifetime baseball passes to the former hostages in Iran, Beano remarked "haven't they suffered enough?"

Posted by: Doug at July 21, 2005 12:12 PM

Musberger. Beano has grown on me a bit over the years. Musberger just seems to get worse over the years.

Posted by: djcolts at July 21, 2005 12:13 PM

Beano Cook.

Posted by: Andy H. at July 21, 2005 12:23 PM

beano.

Posted by: scott at July 21, 2005 12:23 PM

Beano. For not just being a blind PSU homer but often a Golden Dhomer as well.

Posted by: Herman at July 21, 2005 12:28 PM

Beano (heh heh) hasn't made enough of an impression on me to even know who he is.

Furburger, on the other hand, is the annoyance that just won't stop. Gotta go with Brent.

Posted by: Ted at July 21, 2005 01:22 PM

Beano.

But I don't understand the Penn State homer comment. I went to Penn State, am a fan of Penn State, and the guy is the former Pitt SID and in no way a Penn State homer. In '99, he did guarantee that PSU would be 12-0 when they were 9-0 and they ended up going 9-3, but that's just his abject stupidity.

Posted by: James G at July 21, 2005 01:26 PM

Musberger has been stinking up the joint for years in a wide range of sports, but Beano is a complete moron and shouldn't get a pass just because he focuses on college football. He's a cross between Jabba the Hut and the Pope - a fat bastard that thinks it's divine intervention when ND wins a game.

Posted by: Ron Powlus at July 21, 2005 01:27 PM

Beano gets my vote, but neither of these guys should go too deep into this tournament. The younger, louder, more obnoxious guys, with the exception maybe of Vitale, seem to have the momentum to make deeper runs into the tourney.

Posted by: bucco at July 21, 2005 01:52 PM

Musberger, if only because Beano's weekly appearances on ESPNnews are the highest of high comedy.

"Uh oh... grandpa's gotten into the gin again and he's starting to rant about sports. Better put him on TV."

Posted by: Phil at July 21, 2005 01:58 PM

Y'know, I heard an old NBA game on ESPN Classic, and Musberger was less annoying than I remembered. At worst, as bad as Walton, and I think Walton is the best of the NBA broadcasters. Beano, on the other hand, still things the single wing is innovative.

Beano has to go.

Posted by: Ron at July 21, 2005 01:59 PM

Beano. They should put TV-MA in the upper lefthand corner when he appears on TV.

Beano has a terrible neck, but the only thing worse than listening to Musburger announce a game is listening to Keith Jackson announce a game.

beano the jabba.

Posted by: rivers at July 21, 2005 04:22 PM

i don't even know who beano cook is, but my dad seems to take a particular hating to him, so he gets my vote.

Posted by: jonathan at July 21, 2005 04:32 PM

Beano. He's not so much a homer for Penn State as it is he just loves to suck Joe Paterno's cock every chance he gets. And he loves him some Notre Dame talk. Like when in the last 10 years has ND been important in college football? Doesn't matter, Beano will bore you to tears talking about the Notre Dame-Navy game. Kee-rist.

Posted by: Scott Petersen at July 21, 2005 04:36 PM

Beano. Musburger, like Al Michaels, gets a pass for what he did in his prime.

Beano

Posted by: Andrew at July 21, 2005 06:14 PM

Ultimate Michigan homer (Mussy) vs. Ultimate Notre Dame homer (Beano) makes this a toss-up for everyone Spartan.

Gotta go with Beano.

Posted by: J Rauch at July 21, 2005 06:28 PM

Musberger, because he's on every f'in big 10 game I watch. Beano only crawls out of Joe Pa's ass once in awhile...At least Beano doesn't do games...

Posted by: Bob at July 21, 2005 07:00 PM

Beano Cook...just because I didn't think he was still around.

Posted by: Donnie Brasco at July 21, 2005 07:25 PM

Beano it is.

Posted by: Larry at July 21, 2005 07:34 PM

The Brent, for his continuing habit of calling Duke's arena "The Cameron".

Posted by: mjp at July 21, 2005 07:58 PM

Beano, someone please put him out of our misery.

Posted by: Chris Lawrence at July 21, 2005 08:01 PM

Brent Musberger - I strongly encourage you all to read Joe Queenan's Red Lobster, White Trash, and the Blue Lagoon to find the Musberger cameo.

Posted by: Matt Bruce at July 21, 2005 08:20 PM

Beano -

When he made his 1985 debut in Bristol he had a double chin. Now 20 years later, he has 21 chins.

He pronounces LSU as W-L_SU

Posted by: Yuda at July 21, 2005 10:41 PM

Musberger. At least Beano still is entertaining in it's sort of sad way. Plus, he seems to like Michigan Stadium. With Musberger, I'd rather read the captioning than listen to him.

Posted by: Craig D. Barker at July 21, 2005 10:59 PM

Brent M. As he gets older, Musburger is becoming even more annoying. Beano hasn't gotten worse.

Posted by: pankleb at July 21, 2005 11:39 PM

Musberger all the way to the finals against Smith...or Scott...or Kruk...or Morgan...or Sutcliffe...or Mariotti...or Bucher...or... Is there even one who doesn't sucksucksucksucksuck? Honorary seeding into the Sweet 16 for Walton and Joe Buck even if they're not on ESPN.

Posted by: MT Head at July 22, 2005 01:23 AM

I wish I could vote for both of these guys. It's a toss-up, but I'll pick Beano.

What a great match-up, kind of like ARMY-NAVY. Brent can actually still talk about something since the Kennedy administration, so I'm voting for BEANO.

Beano. Hatred of baseball is intolerable. Even my wife pretends to like baseball so as not to offend me.

Posted by: LargeBill at July 22, 2005 10:14 AM

Yeah, Beano .. Musberger has called some great football games over the years and not dropped his glasses like "the legend" Larry Munson.

Posted by: Wryn at July 22, 2005 11:00 AM

Beano. It was a toss-up until I read that Beano hates baseball.
