Braves 2, Padres 0
A true pitchers duel, as expected.
Adam LaRoche hit an opposite field home run in the second inning and Jeff Francoeur singled home a run in the seventh for the only two runs of the game. LaRoche was the only hitter with two hits. Edgar Renteria extended his hitting streak to twelve games but left the game with a strained ribcage. I believe he suffered the same thing in Spring Training.
John Smoltz pitched a complete game shutout, allowing four hits while walking two and striking out four. Opposing starter Jake Peavy went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out eight.
Sunday afternoon game starting at 1:05 on TBS. John Thomson vs. Woody Williams.
